A preaching of the gospel that calls men and women to accept Jesus as Savior but does not make it clear that discipleship means commitment to a vision of society radically different from that which controls our public life today must be condemned as false.

Can one who goes the way of the Cross sit in the seat of Pilate when it falls vacant? A church that sees the cross of Jesus as the central event of history can never identify any political order with the reign of God.

Roger Stone. Found guilty by a jury on 7 federal criminal counts. No jail time. Kalief Browder. Accused of stealing a backpack. Couldn’t post bail. Spent 3 years at Riker’s awaiting trial. Ultimately committed suicide after released. We have two justice systems in our country.

If you think wearing a mask is inconvenient, wait until you hear about the cross that Jesus wants us to carry. Love your neighbor. Wear a mask.😷

If you're more upset about damage to a Target than you are about human beings being murdered and systemic racism enabling it, you need to take a deep breath and think really long and hard about your values as a person.

Black man with no gun ends up dead. White protestors go into state houses with long guns & AK-47s & aren’t even arrested.

#SayHisName #GeorgeFloyd #BlackLivesMatters Beautiful child of God. Murdered before our very eyes while crying out #icantbreathe; while citizens yelled stop, check his pulse, the life slowly fading from him. End racism and white supremacy.

Houses of worship are not essential, but true worship is: “When I was hungry, did you feed me? When I was thirsty, did you give me a drink? When I was a stranger, did you invite me in? When I was naked, did you clothe me? When I was sick and in prison, did you visit me?”

If staying home to help reduce the death toll of a pandemic feels like a threat to your religious freedom but the government saying you cannot welcome your immigrant neighbor as Christ does not, it may be time to ask yourself what religion you’re practicing.

If this country remains on the same trajectory, the 2020s will be even more of a nightmare to live through. Despite false optimism most local churches are part of the problem. The Trump era has proved this. Most congregations would have Jesus deported if he dropped in.
