Recommendations to "slow down", "take a breath", "say it again", etc., may increase the child's anxiety, leading to more stuttering.

Making fun of Joe Biden’s stutter is not okay. I know first hand what it feels like to stutter. Its physically draining to speak and sometimes impossible for us to get our words out. For some reason, stuttering is a disability many people feel comfortable mocking.

A friend asked me what my end goal was when I worked on my speech a few years ago. Me: 'I don't want to relapse'. Friend: 'Did you not hear me? I asked what you want, not what you don't want'. I learned just how negative my mind was that day. #mindset #stammer #positive

Nobody should ever feel they have to do something about their stammer, that decision is completely the individuals. For many (myself included) it takes serious courage to start the journey of doing something about it. #stammer #courage

Another situation where a teacher has made fun of a pupil #stammering in front of the class because they thought they were "mucking about". Can we call for more education in teacher training please? :(
