Today we are honoring Dr. Alexa Irene Canady. Dr. Canady almost dropped out of college as an undergraduate, but after recovering her self-confidence she went on to qualify as the first African American woman neurosurgeon in the United States. #HappyBlackHistoryMonth

Today we are honoring Patricia Bath and all the work she’s done for health care. Patricia Bath was the first African American to complete a residency in ophthalmology and the first African American female doctor to receive a medical patent.
