After the Premier League confirmed that it would adopt a form of squad cost control similar to the UEFA model, replacing the existing Profitability and Sustainability Regulations (PSR), I have taken a look at what this might mean to PL clubs, based on their latest financials.
It is not yet clear exactly how the Premier League will implement the new squad cost control rules, but it is likely that they will align these with UEFA, as was the case with PSR.
@SwissRamble "The cost control ratio will again benefit the wealthiest clubs, who will still have a much bigger budget to spend, even with a smaller 70% cap." And that's what it's all about. Anyone who thinks any of this isn't designed to keep the big clubs at the top is dreadfully naive.
@SwissRamble I fundamentally disagree with these proposal. It further extend the success of big clubs. Clubs finish high, get paid huge merit payments, get more tv cash and then spend more so finish high again. Rinse and repeat. Merit payments and tv cash should not be in the calculation.
