Particle physics experiments with huge collaborations such as @ATLASexperiment, @DUNEScience etc have been doing Zoom-style meetings for more than 10 years, with participants numbering from a few to hundreds. Take it from our experience: you do NOT need to have your video on.

It's intriguing that success of Particle #Physics (and #quantum field theory) depends on use of nonphysical mathematical particles interacting with physical ones. Examples of the nonphysical: many Goldstone bosons, FP ghost fields, B₀/W₀ fields related to the real W±/Z bosons.

Superpermutations are fascinating for many reasons. One reason is that significant progress was made by an anonymous 4Channer, who inspired much work in the area! A superpermutation on n symbols is a string that contains each permutation of n symbols as a substring. (1/3)

Unitary matrices & transformations (closely related to the Unitary group) are ubiquitous in #QM because they preserve probability amplitudes. They have the interesting property (shown) that their eigenvalues lie on a circle. #maths #physics #matplotlib #python #undergrad

Hermitian matrices arise naturally is many different applications. But, perhaps most famously, they feature in Quantum Mechanics as Hermitian operators. A nice feature of Hermitian matrices shown here is that their eigenvalues are real-valued. #physics #math #matplotlib #python
