“Realism” is a valid art style for games and deserves to be celebrated as much as stylized graphics.
@SynthPotato Did u choose this image on purpose synth
@SynthPotato Realism is rewarded regularly by press and media. When company's use that realism as a paint over for under baked mechanics is where people get frustrated
@SynthPotato photo realism ages like milk, proper art direction is forever
@SynthPotato True. Problem is it's become the trademark aesthetic of a dipping quality AAA market, as well as having the incorrect notion that realism requires resource zapping, performance taxing high fidelity. Lastly they age faster than stylized games.
@SynthPotato Yeah for sure. But I would take good gameplay over realistic graphics any day. I would take better writing over realistic graphics any day. In fact, realistic graphics should be on the lower end of gaming prioritization.
@SynthPotato Yes, but the problem with the majority of realistic AAA games today is that they're so milquetoast and run-of-the-mill. They're not fun, exciting or thrilling compared to the stylized games. The only time I care about realistic graphics is if it's a racing sim or a WWE game.
@SynthPotato GTA 6 is not realistic, but stylised realism. GTA4, 5, RDR2 and GTA6 will age like fine wine
@SynthPotato GTA 6 is stylised realism lol It’s not trying to be completely realistic, but instead beautiful 24/7 Shots like this are a GREAT example
@SynthPotato So you should have posted something done with RE Engine or Decima engine, the most realistic graphical engines out there.
