💸ARIZONA + ASU: Spending more than the whole XII, but earning less to pay for it 💸 A great column below from Jon, but I want to add a little extra color: Both #Arizona + #ASU are spending more than any of the #Big12's power members on sports... but (along with CU), they make less than any of them to foot the bill. This is unlikely to be sustainable on a long-term basis, especially because (unlike UCLA) they don't have the prospects of big Big Ten money coming to foot the bill, though (unlike UA right now), ASU probably has the resources to keep footing the bill if Dr. Crow wants to. You guys have seen my posts on the complexities of cross-subsidies between the Athletic Dept. and central campus coffers, but if I were the Arizona Regents, this would be concerning to me... which is probably part of why they have been lopping off heads, including UA Pres. Robbins. (Note that the Big XII's G5 schools are excluded due to their G5 budgets not being comparable to the XII/Pac programs)

@TJAltimore Hey Tony, Houston is very much in a same boat. Don't know if being in the B12 has changed anything at Houston but it'd be interesting to see their numbers too.
@TJAltimore @stephen_richer Jesus Walks with President Trump
@TJAltimore It's going to be tricky because DRF said we weren't cutting any sports.
@TJAltimore AZ schools not doing well UCLA & SC will benefit from Big 10 dough
@TJAltimore Crow keeps investing in Olympic sports at the cost of having to subsidise the athletic program. Clearly better Football and basketball (men’s and women’s) could help close that gap but I feel like as long as he’s in charge, ASU will continue to invest in these programs.
@TJAltimore Tony my man I’m going to need like one chart out of you where the big 12 is on top. One!
@TJAltimore @stephen_richer I coulda swore school was meant for learning shit not playing sports
@TJAltimore This is just a result of having too many sports! Both these are longest tenured PAC Teams who have same belief system as other PAC presidents. be like Stanford, Cal & UCLA… Winning the directors cup is by far most important thing to them rather than winning anything in football
