Ooh, an "if the Earth is 4.5 billion years old, why hasn't Niagara Falls eroded away yet" tweet! You don't see this one very often in the wild. "My dad just turned 70. If the Earth is 4.5 billion years old, then why didn't he just turn 4.5 billion?"
Apparently the idea that rivers change course, that Niagara Falls isn't as old as the Earth, and possibly even that NOT EVERYTHING ON THE PLANET IS THE SAME AGE is news to creationists.
@TakeThatDarwin That helps date their apologetics as crusty old 1970s YEC rather than the glossy new 2020s YEC that misrepresents a newer set of data.
@TakeThatDarwin Not to nitpick but, when did Lake Ontario move to the west coast? Or, do they think waterfalls just wander around on their own?
@TakeThatDarwin In their defense, those were stated as questions. Maybe they are genuinely curious. Maybe they are practicing for Jeopardy. You can't be sure. "I'll take 'Childhood Indoctrination for $2000"
@TakeThatDarwin @_IAmMilitia Genetic mutations are random and passed on by the individual concerned, NOT the whole species. They also happen over long time periods. Many mutations have no effect. A series of advantageous changes 'can' lead to the origin of a new species. >6k years required.
