@MarzTalksSports I dont think its stupid to say its not as simple. Different people have different definitions about playing the best

@sweenyo @brawk13 @madridupdates__ Yeah there are precedents which were ruled as being controversial.

@sweenyo @brawk13 @madridupdates__ Most years that has been the case. The last time a player won the Ballon D'Or without winning any major trophies was Cristiano Ronaldo in 2013 and that was seen as controversial. Whether you like it or not, there are way more winners who had team wins than ones who didnt

@_Tobolos_ Yes it does. Impact on winning does matter. Or else players can score 30-40 goals, their team finish 8th or something and can be considered in the race for the award. And the Ballon D'Or criteria states that team accomplishments do matter

@EF19Footy_ @dayoaa_ @TBLCFC Well it shouldn't for fans. For the players, yes.

@Origilista Two different trophies, two different criterias. And was Lyes wrong? Players like Luis Suarez in 13/14, Mo Salah in 17/18, etc won the PFA Player of the Year without winning any trophies. The Ballon D'Or has a clear criteria for team accomplishments.

@RMxAce The Ballon D'Or and PFA Player of the Year are not given by the same governing bodies. So they might not have the same criterias. There have been previous PFA Player of the Year winners that didnt win team trophies. Suarez 13/14, Salah 17/18, etc

@CHlGABOO His job is to win games and win trophies for Real Madrid. Thats why after Madrid won the league and Champions League double in 23/24, they recruited him.

@FYhujee @Mrinmoy75820605 @LibanLDN I dont know. Its an open race this season. Based on the criteria of the Ballon D'Or of having team success, Mbappe's chances are hurt by the trophyless season.

@TBLCFC I agree. Nobody thinks Pele or Maradona's legacies are lesser than other players due L'Equipe's decision for not giving the award outside of European nationalities until 1995.

@dayoaa_ @TBLCFC Is Pele or Diego Maradona's legacy any lesser because they didnt win a Ballon D'Or because L'Equipe didnt allow anyone other than European nationalities to win until 1995?

@MarzTalksSports Depends on who you think was the best player for the season. There is a debate here because there isn't anyone who is the outright winner based on the criteria.
