Lovecraftian horror is not high fantasy in the slightest. Lovecraftian horror = a world of gods, monsters, body horror and almost no hope other than cats and ghouls. High fantasy = a world of wonder and magic of heroes fighting to make the world a better place and they win.
@Gaymerfurrywolf Magic in Lovecraftian horror is powerful but also dangerous and unpredictable and definitely not something any sane person would employ unless desperate.
@TerraDraca If you are a master at it, you might be ok for awhile, as long as you are not using it on yourself because that is just dumb. But it is pretty much like Umbrella and the various virus, you have something super powerful that will probably turn you into a horrifying monster.
@Gaymerfurrywolf I love the way the board games handle it. You have a card for a spell but after you use it, you have to flip the card and see what side effects there are.
@TerraDraca that is both really funny and makes sense, good job you cast a great and powerful spell and here is why you probably shouldn't have done that.
@Gaymerfurrywolf But you could always luck out and make the save to avoid the bad consequences. You might even get a beneficial side effect. I remember the time I used azure flame to fight off a nasty monster only to wind up setting the house on fire.
@TerraDraca Well that is good t know, might luck out in the end. lol oops, I mean you never know with fire magic XD
