Crazy. Between the entering class of 2016 & the entering class of 2021, national average Median GPA for all ABA-accredited law schools went from 3.37 to 3.53. It will be interesting to see what the average is once we get the full data for this year’s entering class in December.
We still lean towards law school applications being slightly down this coming cycle versus last, based on all available data we have, TO DATE. What's likely more important for a given applicant is whether score distribution normalizes, or at least gets more normal.
As of today, there are 0.1% fewer law school applicants this cycle vs. the 2019-20 cycle. On Dec. 1, 2021, there were 30% more. This marks a trend toward applicants applying earlier in the cycle. However, the trend among law schools is rendering decisions more and more slowly.

As of 10/13 law school applicants are up 9.4% from last year & 52.9% from two years ago. Applications up 14.3% and up 88.2% from two years ago. This is likely due to front-loading and these numbers should come down some as the cycle progresses

I think maybe 50% but either way this is spot on advice for Personal Statement writing. Write your story then edit out extraneous filler words.

Will there be wait list movement? Absolutely. A number of schools have already intimated they will take off the WL. I think it may be more scattered versus wave-like this year, but TBD. We'll know more soon!

@SpiveyConsult Gap years can provide great reflective time. But gaps of just two to four months can also provide the respite needed to reflect and set meaningful goals. The key is to change your environs to provide perspective.

/1 It can be an unbelievably cruel world when job searching and law schools coddling students aren't doing them any favors. So please know this, it is so much easier for a hiring partner to delete your email than to open and read your resume. Get every detail 100% down.
