From our visit to Nemasu Care Home Ms. Sirreh Saho shares her pride and joy in supporting her child and how she had to change her parenting tactics from traditional to tailored to her child’s needs. 💙 She further explains how every child is unique and deserves to be accepted.
Over the weekend, history was made as four autism organizations in The Gambia came together to form the Gambia Autism Societies (G.A.S.), a united alliance for advocacy, awareness, and inclusion. Under the theme “Unity for Autism Advocacy in The Gambia”. The work starts now!
This happens when a person receives more input than they can process, causing discomfort, anxiety, or distress. For example, a noisy, brightly lit room may overwhelm someone with sensory sensitivities, leading to headaches, nausea, or a fight, flight, or freeze response. #autism
Ms. Sirreh Saho, during her visit to Nemasu Care Home, applauded the caregivers for dedicating themselves to children and adults with disabilities. She also highlighted the need to see the world through the eyes of individuals with autism to better understand and support them.
Our founder, Ms. Sirreh Saho, paid a special visit to Nemasu Care Home, where she trained caregivers on practical and compassionate ways to better support the children, especially Junkunda, an inspiring child on the autism spectrum. #TogetherForAutismGambia #autism #different

At our first gathering, TFAG and GAADD brought together parents, guardians, educators, and advocates of autistic children to share experiences and learn. The event aimed to highlight the daily challenges and celebrate the uniqueness of raising individuals on the spectrum.
Mariama Jallow, a parent with autistic twins shares the ordeal she had to go through in seeking for education for her boys. Every child deserves a seat in the classroom. Equal education rights for autistic and non-autistic children alike!

We hosted our first “ JOTAI” & it was a huge success! TFAG, in partnership with GAADD, invited parents, educators, and advocates to a safe space to share experiences , learn, and connect. The event was held for parents and others to familiarise ourselves with daily struggles.
