While people celebrate the 50th anniversary of D&D, remember that the founders and legends who created it and helped build it in the early days are often not recognized by the company that holds the rights to the game now. #TTRPGs #tabletopgames #dnd
@TheBillAllan Gary Gygax - Dave Arneson are legends but the most unsung is David Wesely. If David wouldn't have ran Braunstein for Dave and company, D&D might never have been created Remember to Dungeon the board game was created by Dave Megarry before DD also DaveCon.net
@TheBillAllan Yup, they have to erase history so they can rewrite it to benefit them
@TheBillAllan I thought wotc’s plan to recognize them was to publish The Making of Original Dungeons & Dragons, 1970-1976. Did something change?
@TheBillAllan Thank you for posting this, but I don’t know the faces, except for the artists in the lower left. Who are these folks? Thanks!
@TheBillAllan 2nd edition and advance dnd was my jam.
@TheBillAllan Yeah I don’t think that’s true. You could point the finger at hasbro, but the actual people at wizards give nods to the OG folks all the time.
@TheBillAllan Remember that the people credited with creating the game ended up hating one another and often refused to give credit to each other (and others)
@TheBillAllan I keep saying, there are two Dungeons & Dragons with big birthdays this year. One turns 50, the other 10. They have nothing in common except the name.
@TheBillAllan Yeah, wotc snubbing them is sad and annoying
@TheBillAllan To Hasbro D&D is just another SKU, no different than Monopoly or Chutes & Ladders. Something to repackage into new boxes and put on store shelves.
