If you are experiencing crashes in MunsellDG after upgrading to iOS8, please delete and re-install the app. We will have an update soon.
We are aware of a crash issue in MunsellDG under iOS8 and are presently working on a fix.
You do need the Vasari for value 5; it's darker than the WN Cobalt Turquoise Light, and the mix is too light without it.
One last bonus recipe: 5BG 5/10. Vasari Cobalt Bright Turquoise + WN Cobalt Turquoise Light + WN Winsor Green + white.
That about wraps it up for this series on mixing. We hope you've found it useful. Happy tubing!
With 5P and 5RP, watch for the low chroma, low value mixes pulling strongly blue. Raw umber, burnt umber and even reds might be needed.
Mix the Rose & Violet directly, and gently raise the value with white a tiny bit at a time; then adjust for hue as you go.
Last high-chroma mix in our series: 5RP 2/8. WN Perm Rose + WN Diox Violet again, but the mix is tricky because Rose is lighter than V2.
Last day. 5RP 4/12 can be hit with WN Perm. Rose + scant Diox Violet + white. Interesting that Rose pulls red at lower values, blue higher.
5RP 8/6 can be made with the 6/12 mix + white, but it will pull purple as it lightens; correct with scant Cad Red and a lot of white.
And now we come to the end, 5RP. Kicking things off: WN Permanent Rose bracketed with WN Cadmium Red + white makes a gorgeous 5RP 6/12.
Raw umber is useful as a low-chroma corrective in 5P as well, when mixes get too blue and you don't want the additional chroma of more red.
For middle- and low-chroma 5P colors, any inexpensive red, like WN Bright Red, can replace quinacridone. 4/8 can be made this way easily.
Vasari Cobalt Violet Pale is brilliantly chromatic - hard to measure, in fact. Extremely expensive, but it will kick chromas out a long way.
The WN Diox Violet + Graham Quinacridone Red + white mix doesn't quite reach 5P 4/12, but it's very close, around 4/11+.
The WN Diox Violet + Graham Quinacridone Red + white mix can also hit 5P 2/8 on the low end. Scant white, of course.
WN Diox Violet + Graham Quinacridone Red + white exceeds max chroma of 5P 6/8. Possibly 6/9.
And the 5P 7/8 mix below, heightened with white, can slightly exceed the max-chroma 5P 8/4; possibly reaching 5P 8/5.
Kicking off 5P: Winsor & Newton Diox Violet + scant Gamblin Perylene Red + white hits max-chroma 5P 7/8 easily.
5PB 8/6 can be made with white, WN French Ultramarine and small amounts of phthalo green.
