Great win again for Aaron Hill last night , this time beating Lisowski 4-1. I think perhaps the most impressive thing is just how at home he’s starting to look on the big stage. Sense this is becoming a proper breakthrough season.#snooker

So once again no coverage of The English Open available in Ireland until main tv coverage. For those hoping @WeAreWST will bring a tournament back here I wouldn’t be holding your breath. They don’t even care whether we can watch the sport or not.

It seems everywhere in the world except Ireland has a means to access qualifying & other tables at multi table events. I presume that will change when HBO Max launches some time in 2026, but surely @WeAreWST ye can do something for us before then????

Final word (for now) on the Saudi Masters & the “4th Major”. One of the main misconceptions is that prize money alone makes a tournament a Major. In Golf The Players Championship has a winners prize way above the 4 Majors, but it’s no Green jacket or Claret Jug.

All the best to @janverhaas on his retirement. from the arena. As a kid watching snooker it always seemed to be Street, Williams or Ganley with the white gloves on the telly. Jan was the first young person we saw reffing & from day1 brought that sense of calm authority to it
