Today @HelenClarkNZ submitted important expanded points on #INB9, in response to the Bureau's invitation for written contributions on the draft #pandemic agreement text. The submission draws on recommendations made by @TheIndPanel, and suggests : 📏a more measurable objective for the agreement 📘 a definition of pandemic that includes both fast and slower-moving deadly pathogens 🌐 an agreement anchored in human rights which seeks to protect the vulnerable, address gender inequities, and work closely with civil society 🧪 a re-examination of the equity articles in the text, as they currently won't result in the rapid, end-to-end regionally-based ecosystem required 💵 the need for sufficient, clear, sustained pre-negotiated finance for preparedness and rapid access to funds for a surge response 🌐 the importance of leadership at the Head of State and Government level in COPs provided for in the agreement For the full statement, see: bit.ly/3VriXz8
