👋 @GeneralNeva @NtareHouse @BurundiGov, it is disheartening to see journalists like Floriane Irangabiye silenced and imprisoned for doing their jobs. You have the power to uphold human rights and freedom of expression for all. Please do the right thing and release her.

One proposal makes it obligatory for city-managers to consider climate in all decision making. T'other requires a fund of SFR130 million to be set up, to make grants in support of any good climate initiative presented. All citizens participated in creating this practical outcome!

To illustrate Swiss direct democracy at work: earlier this month, the citizens of Zurich voted on a motion to invest more in green measures in their city. This was turned down, while 2 counter-proposals were voted in.

#ChrisPackhamC4 back to your question on breaking the law - NO, rather let's create a system in which we the people participate directly in creating the laws. This is our democratic right; our moral duty; and the only clear way forward. So let's develop real, direct democracy!

#blocvote.org makes it possible to establish direct democracy in the UK, one even more effective than the 175-old Swiss model. If I were in politics I would adopt this platform immediately so that the entire population can join in making the many difficult policy choices ahead.

#ChrisPackhamC4 produced a singularly thought-provoking documentary musing over whether he owed it to his conscience to break the law by demonstrating for more rapid and far-reaching measures to counter climate change. Today #stormhuntley of Channel 5 threw open the debate.
