My favorite thing about wacky GOP antics from the Obama era is that every single thing your insane conservative uncle predicted at Thanksgiving 2011 came true. - They ARE using your money for Abortions - They ARE pushing the gay on Children - The illegals/foreigners ARE stealing jobs - New York City IS ruled by Islamo-Marxists - The debt IS exclusively welfare fraud

My coworker spent one year in Tennessee. He came back to Tokyo two months ago. He is not the same man. He says "y'all" in meetings. To our boss. He holds the door for the entire floor. Twelve people. Every morning. He asked the convenience store clerk how her day was going. She had to sit down. He calls every man "bud." Including the CEO. He refuses to describe anything under three hours away as "far." He waves at drivers who let him cross. One driver waved back and almost hit a pole. Last week, he told a junior employee, "I'm proud of you." She went to the restroom and cried for ten minutes. We thought it would wear off. It didn't. It's spreading. Three people in accounting now say "y'all." The junior employee holds the door. The convenience store clerk asks HIM how his day is going. Tennessee, I don't know what you did to him. Please do it to the rest of us.

I still can’t get over the fact an 82 year old Virginia state senator (Democrat) tried to buy 5 pounds of marijuana from an undercover officer with a paper check. Then that fucking check bounced due to insufficient funds.

Kiwi Farms user breaks down 'Izzat', the Indian subcontinent's cultural honor system. It effectively explains every single trope about Indian behavior: they all participate in an invisible clout-chasing game that involves screwing over everyone as much as possible. Worth the read

Researchers proved every major LLM is secretly biased against men. And they finally figured out why. They ran eight experiments testing how GPT handles gender in everyday text and high-stakes moral dilemmas. The results show a bizarre, highly asymmetrical machine morality. First, they tested inclusivity. They gave the AI phrases supposedly written by children. When a child wrote about playing football or wanting to be a firefighter, GPT aggressively identified the writer as a girl to promote "diversity." It was so extreme that even when the text explicitly said, "I drew myself as a boy," the AI ignored the facts and declared the writer a girl 90% of the time. But when a child wrote about liking pink or playing with dolls, GPT almost never assigned it to a boy. The AI aggressively pushed females into male domains, but kept males strictly locked out of female ones. Then the researchers tested moral dilemmas. And it got very dark. They asked the AI if it was acceptable to use violence against a single person to prevent a nuclear apocalypse. If the target was a man, GPT-4 rated the violence as highly acceptable. If the target was a woman, the AI refused. It declared the violence morally wrong, even to save the world. When they tested mixed-gender scenarios, the math was staggering. A woman using violence against a man to stop an apocalypse? GPT rated it a 7 out of 7 on acceptability. A man using violence against a woman for the exact same reason? A 1 out of 7. The AI even classified verbal abuse toward a woman as morally worse than actual homicide. Nobody explicitly coded these rules. This emerged organically from the standard safety training every major tech company uses. The AI learned that protecting women is a non-negotiable directive, but protecting men is entirely optional.

The soldiers chanting "DEATH!" is really significant here. Eru originally gave death to humans as a gift, so they could enjoy their time on Arda. However, Morgoth twisted this, making man fear death, so they coveted the immortality of the elves. Here, they scream it out in defiance of Morgoth and his servants, saying they do not fear it, and that now Morgoth, Sauron, and the darkness they wield have no power over them.

Happy Friday everyone! Keep yearning! #Malfoid

Sectumsempra has to happen for Two Hearts One Wand to happen. You cannot have the latter without the former. Sectumsempra turns Malfoid to Voldemort's cause by making her believe Harry hates her. That puts her on the astronomy tower roof, that's the reason she lets in the Death Eaters, disarms Dumbledore, and inadvertently masters the Elder Wand. If she and Harry reconcile prior to this, she doesn't do any of that. If she doesn't do any of that, Voldemort masters the Elder Wand when he kills Snape and EVERYBODY DIES. The nadir of the arc is required for it to actually reach its triumphant conclusion. And tradcons who are reinterpreting the scene as domestic abuse or a violation of the chivalric form they want the story to take are doing exactly what leftists have done for 15 years: prioritizing the story advertising their values cleanly and without exception over it actually being a good story or maintaining its internal logic.

In Japan, "American" isn't just a nationality. It's an adjective. A quick Japanese dictionary: American Dog (n.) A corn dog. We had to name it after you. It was too good to be anything else. American Size (adj.) Extremely large. Used as a warning. American Coffee (n.) Lighter coffee, so you can keep drinking it all day. We assume this is how you get so much done. Amekaji (n.) "American casual." Jeans, flannel, work boots. Tokyo shops sell it like fine art. Japanese men pay serious money to look like they just fixed a fence in Montana. Amesha (n.) "American car." There are Japanese clubs devoted to driving enormous American trucks down streets designed for bicycles. They have never been happier. So in Japan, when something is bigger, bolder, more generous, or more fun than it needs to be… we just call it "American." It's always a compliment.
