A presenter may press a point without reducing a man to a slur on air. Once that line is crossed, the studio stops examining power and starts performing contempt. @atiku, Building a private university while children still beg in the streets is not a development strategy. It is a category error. Atiku Abubakar now presents the American University of Nigeria as proof of his commitment to the North. A university is a valuable institution. It is not, however, the logical first step when thousands of children in the same region remain outside any classroom at all. Education is sequential. Literacy and numeracy come before degrees. You do not start the ladder at the top and hope the bottom rungs appear by themselves. The Feed and Read programme is mentioned as if it settles the matter. Small-scale feeding and basic instruction are better than nothing. They do not amount to a systemic answer for a problem that has persisted for decades. A leader who spent eight years as Vice President cannot reasonably treat a later private campus as the primary rebuttal to the charge of neglect. The question is simple and it will not go away. Should children be expected to begin at university level, or should the state and its most prominent figures first ensure they can read, write and eat without a begging bowl? What, exactly, counts as “practical investment” when the most basic layer remains unfinished?

Dr. Olumayowa, thank you for your reply. A doctorate does not automatically confer authority on Yoruba. Gbewudani does not have “many interpretations.” It has one sharp, culturally loaded meaning: a husband who has lost authority in his own house. The man who holds his wife’s wrapper at the door while she does as she pleases inside. A man with no say left in his household. If you are truly Yoruba and as learned as you claim, walk into your family compound, call any of your uncles or your father “Gbewudani” to his face, record the conversation, and post it here. Let us all see those “multiple interpretations” in real time.
