I have flown storms for the last six years. This flight to Hurricane #Ian on Kermit (#NOAA42) was the worst I’ve ever been on. I’ve never seen so much lightning in an eye. This was the eye. You can see the curvature. Understand this is at NIGHT. The light is from LIGHTNING.
Absolutely wild. All of this in the eye, in which we circled for some time to deploy the UAS (uncrewed aerial system). A high end Cat 4 storm. Nearly Cat 5. All of this at 8,000 feet above the ocean. I’m glad we only did one pass.
@TheAstroNick Was it bumpy? From someone that has an irrational fear of flying on a sunny day, this horrifies me! Job well done!
@TheAstroNick Hi, I like your photo and post. I am with FOX Weather and would like to feature it. Did you take this photo? Can Fox News Media and affiliates use across all platforms? We can courtesy you, what courtesy would you prefer?
@TheAstroNick @flightradar24 Where do you find room on board for your massive cojones?
@TheAstroNick For everyone with a fear of turbulence on commercial flights we'll just show them your tweet and tell them to "chill out and relax already", planes can handle worse.
