I want to say I'm shocked they considered gender-swapping Edward, but I'm actually not. If you were to swap any of the main 7, I guess he would've been the best candidate Why Alice of all names though?

@TheUnluckyTug Alice seems like a good idea for a fan character.
@TheUnluckyTug I feel like Percy would have been a better choice, but I don’t think gender swapping any of Awdry’s (or Britt and David’s) characters should happen
@TheUnluckyTug I feel like Gordon or Percy would have been good choices to swap too. I agree though, Alice was a bizarre choice for a gender-swapped named in all honesty.
@TheUnluckyTug I always saw Henry and Percy as females (both the names and characters) and have wanted to rework the stories in my own adaptations of them to fit this headcanon. And be off with all who try to force me to give up on my headcanon for any reason.
@TheUnluckyTug I always used to think that James and Edward were female engines as a kid, despite having masculine names. I think it's because their builds are a lot more slender than Gordon and Henry's and their faces were smoother.
@TheUnluckyTug I can take Rusty being non-binary considering Rusty can be a gender neutral name but the genders of the rest of Awdry's characters should be left alone IMO.
@TheUnluckyTug Thank God they didn't! I feel like it would've been really strange and a direct deviation from the character that Wilbert Audrey created!
@TheUnluckyTug As a kid, it took me a long time to accept that Edward and James weren't girls. Don't ask me why.
@TheUnluckyTug I used to think Edward, Skarloey and Rheneas were girls when I was little. Honestly I think it would have been better to just make Edward a recurring character and add a girl in the main cast, like they did years later (albeit rather poorly).
