I know a lot of people will come for me for saying this, but I don’t think the idea behind NELFUND is bad. When I was in school, we paid around ₦56,000 per session, and that was before this administration. Yet, we still had coursemates who couldn’t afford their school fees. Every session, our HOC would organise contributions to help students who hadn’t paid. This happened repeatedly, so let’s stop pretending that affordable school fees meant everyone could afford them. I understand people’s concerns about rising tuition fees, and those concerns are valid. But we also need to discuss how universities can be properly funded, how lecturers can be paid adequately, and how we can reduce the disruption caused by prolonged ASUU strikes. You cannot demand quality education while ignoring the cost of providing it. Universities need funding, lecturers deserve decent pay, and students deserve access to education without unnecessary delays. That’s why I see the idea behind NELFUND as a useful option for students who cannot afford their fees upfront. The loan is interest-free, paid directly to the institution, and repayable when the beneficiary is employed and earning. Of course, the implementation, eligibility requirements and repayment terms must be fair and transparent. Student loans are not unique to Nigeria; other countries also operate similar schemes. The existence of student debt elsewhere doesn’t automatically make every loan scheme good, but it shows that this is not an unusual approach to funding higher education. My point is simple: we can criticise rising school fees and still acknowledge the potential benefits of student loans. The two conversations are not mutually exclusive. And please, let’s stop assuming that anyone who sees merit in a government policy must have collected money from a political party. We can disagree about policies without reducing every discussion to partisan insults.

Pursue a domain you love. But simultaneously get so insanely technically skilled at math/coding/AI that you can apply it to your domain of interest in an innovative way. Deep domain expertise plus alien-level technical skills equals lots of interesting and rewarding work to do.

Btw this here is the problem. If you’re trying to learn you shouldn’t be focused on trying to find the best resource to aid your learning. You should just learn. The cognitive load that comes with trying different resources until you find one that works is just too much. Eliminate it. This is why people pay tons of money to schools and universities. Your job should be knowledge gaining. If you can, delegate the actual act of curation to someone else so you could focus on what matters. Actually learning.

@Leonard_Nonso @Joy_Nahza In that case only refer people you know. Instead of referring those you don't know and asking them to send picture.

@oyinkanbadejo The huge gap between zedcrest equity fund and the other equity fund is quite worrisome. Is there a reason for such a huge gap

@ExofX01 @AyilolaElisha The cutoff marks are based on the students performance

i used to think i liked being alone but no, my ideal situation is being in a house full of people and isolating myself in a room.

A socialist in a capitalist environment thinks himself moral. A capitalist in a socialist environment thinks himself smart.

Bro they’re gonna think piece us to death over that “Tony” lady. We get it already please.

It was still called "avi" in 2013 when I adopted this photo in everlasting remembrance of Che Guevara, my daily reminder that a man could be wise but foolish at the same time. I will tell you the story of Ernesto “Che” Guevara, and maybe you'll agree with me that he was wise but even more foolish. Che was an Argentine doctor, who instead of practising, got bored, and travelled his continent. After seeing how the "CIA" extorted all of South America, sponsored coups, changed regimes, and left them poor, he decided to lead revolutions. He eventually met Fidel Castro, a Cuban, in Mexico. They formed a group and headed to Cuba to overthrow Cuban CIA plant Fulgencio Batista. The revolutionaries took power and Che became one of the most important figures in the new Cuban government thanks to his role as some sort of a military commander. He lived like a king, was appointed President of the National Bank of Cuba and Minister of Industries. He and the Castro brothers (then president) helped the industrialization of the economic system of Cuba. But he overestimated himself, and thus a fool in my books. He became bored once again with all the peace around him and decided to take his Revolution to other parts of the world including far away Africa. Against the advice of his mates in Cuba, he renounced his official positions and retired in his 20s just to jet off to Africa, particularly Congo, which was struggling with political instability after the death of Patrice Lumumba. But his mission in Africa failed despite having fought with the support of rebels and the locals because the Belgians would rather burn down the country than let them know peace. Still determined to sow his seeds of revolution somewhere else, he went uninvited to Bolivia, a sovereign country, to establish another guerrilla movement and topple their government. Has there been any man in history more foolish? Despite the Bolivian people uninterested in supporting his plan to liberate them, despite his awareness of the Bolivian people sharing information about his tactics and whereabouts to the government, which massively affected his chances, Che Guevara was still determined to overthrow the government all by himself. So he remained in the bushes with his few soldiers for months, attacking the military, short of food and armour, but still believed he could win instead of just going back home to Cuba. He was one man in a foreign country trying to change the government with no support at all. In Cuba, he succeeded because there was a solid Cuban group supported by the populace. In Congo, there was also a Congolese group in agreement with the locals even though he failed. But in Bolivia, it was just him, a stranger on strange soil. So it was pretty easy for the Bolivian government, assisted by the United States, to hunt him down, and the former Cuban revolutionary leader, doctor, and internationally recognised freedom fighter, was shot dead like a deer. He was only 39 years old. The moral of this story? - don't go where you're not invited - you can't save those who don't want to be saved

@winexviv Everyone is so happy with this initiative and no one is talking about how it will being implemented or the unforseen consequences that will come with this

@eldivine Identity rooted in tribalism. What have we used it to achieve?

This isn't a mob or a group of vigilantes. These are South African police officers. It's one thing to restrain a suspect who has already been subdued. It's another to wrap a cloth around his head to suffocate him while continuing to hit him. He died, and the response from a South African female minister was that the "foreigner was resisting arrest." This man was killed inside his own home. We are witnessing the systematic targeting of Nigerians in South Africa.

Despite denials from the South African Police a video from Bellville, Cape Town, appears to show officers restraining Chika Ibe, a Nigerian from Abia State, in a manner that some witnesses allege involved strangulation and suffocation. Chika Ibe later died following the incident

What I actually find amusing in all this conversation is the number of people claiming to be among the intelligent ones. Like we don’t see your opinions Like even you believe you’re part of the intelligent ones? Again if we have this much intellectuals we shouldn’t be here.

@nsraban Good day I just want to ask. Had the future cash flow not already priced in by the market? And if yes, Is there any reason for a newcomer to purchase the stock?

Here is the first lesson in media consumption: Every single media you consume has an agenda behind it. Someone somewhere wanted that media out and wanted it out for a reason. The second is related: whenever you see any piece of media ask yourself, what agenda is this media designed for and whose interest does it serve that I'm seeing this media at this time? Does this agenda align with my personal goals and personal agenda or not? Nothing says NPC quite like mindlessly consuming every media put in front of you, uncritically.
