I attended a council meeting this evening over coming devolution. I didn't get to ask my question (my own fault, not theirs) so thought I would ask it here. What powers would Crawley be giving up in a unitary authority specifically? We won't lose planning, so what will we lose?

The response to today's announcement on the Reform plan to abolish Indefinite Leave to Remain reminds me again that we have a culture of suicidal empathy. Worse though, it is misplaced empathy. Abolishing ILR is not just about money saving, it is about making the British state…
