Premier Jacinta Allan has confirmed Indigenous Victorians could receive an exception from state taxes as a result of the government’s treaty process. Do you think it is reasonable for Indigenous Victorians to be granted tax exemptions? Please share for a bigger sample.
The 2019 Victorian First Peoples' Assembly election was held between 16 September to 20 October 2019 to elect 21 members to the First Peoples' Assembly in the Australian state of Victoria. The election filled seats to the body, which was charged with the responsibility of preparing for negotiations with the Victorian Government about a treaty with the state's Aboriginal population. Only Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in Victoria and at least 16 years of age were eligible to vote in the election. However, only 7% of the eligible voters turned out to vote.
@TraceyLee_07 @BuggaThe Of course not. Nobody should be exempt from tax based on race.
@TraceyLee_07 Time to start ticking that box.. 🤣
@TraceyLee_07 How many will become suddenly indigenous
@TraceyLee_07 Yes. Everyone should be granted exceptions from state taxes. They should be abolished and replaced with nothing. In the absence of that, though, it should be applied fairly, so actually no.
@TraceyLee_07 Just wait till everyone ticks the box to get tax exemption. Then what will they do? Ps...if you're born there = you're indigenous - it's the literal definition of the word
@TraceyLee_07 @MareeSolaris They need a job to pay tax🤷♂️🤷♂️
