Train In Faith @TrainInFaith

@ShortStoryKing The body is a temple. Maintain it with healthy food, exercise, and rest. Fill it’s rooms with words and songs of worship. Then when you open the doors love pours out.

God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. — Romans 5:5 Jesus died for your sins. He rose. He gives His Spirit to everyone who trusts Him. There is nothing you can do that adequately thanks Him for that. You cannot earn it. You cannot repay it. All you can do is surrender. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. — Matthew 5:5 Meekness is not weakness. It is a man who stops fighting for the throne of his own heart and trusts Christ. That is when the change begins. Not as a checklist. As love. You tend the gardens of the temple out of love. You wash the baseboards out of love. You clean the toilets not because it is on the chore list, but because you love the Lord and want to honour, worship, and praise Him. The body is a temple. The Spirit dwells there. The work of training, rest, food, and ordinary care is stewardship. But the motive has changed. You are no longer decorating the house so you will be admired. You are keeping the house because Someone you love lives there. “Whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.” — 1 John 4:16 Submit. Open the rooms. Let the light do the rest. “Because the request was to remove the fake gods. Jesus did not qualify.” Jesus is real. Jesus is God.

@CalisthenicKyle The simpler my workouts get the more effective they become! Pushups, pull ups, dips, body weight squats…I love your content. Thank you very much!

Mid-week check-in. The race is over. The goal is checked off. Now comes the quieter test. You go back to the work that doesn’t have a medal: simple strength, the mats, the wall. You still don’t have the next big target fully named. You do know what the work looks like. That is enough. Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit… You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. — 1 Corinthians 6:19–20 Stewardship after a finish line is not hunting the next thing to prove. It is returning to the house and keeping it. Train because the body belongs to Him. Climb, roll, and lift because the ordinary days are still His. Hold the next goal loosely so it cannot take His place. Christ first. Then the work. Then the glory goes back to Him. Train in Faith.

Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus. — Hebrews 12:1–2 Hebrews was written to weary believers tempted to quit. The “race” is the life of faith, not a finish line we get credit for. The call is endurance with your eyes on Christ, not on your own performance. A tight back the week before a race will tell you the truth fast. You start measuring the temple by whether it will perform. You forget it was never yours to prove anything with. You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. — 1 Corinthians 6:19–20 Paul is not giving a fitness plan. He is reminding the church that the body belongs to God because the Spirit lives there. Care for it. Do not use it as if it were yours. Stewardship this week may look like less running and more stretching. It may also look like staying in the Word — even in ordinary conversations — because the house is maintained from the inside out. You prepare the body because it belongs to Him. You release the outcome because the race is not the point. Christ first. Then care for what He entrusted to you. Then run, or walk, or stop if you must. The temple is not honoured by finishing at all costs. It is honoured when the man inside it keeps his eyes on Jesus. Train in Faith.

I think it’s fair to point out the timeline of events. So the idea is that the thief is like Abraham, or David? Where Jesus can forgive and receive people before the new covenant? Am I understanding correctly? My only tension (not sure it’s the best word) is the word ‘today’. It seems pretty definitive where the thief’s destiny is. Either way I appreciate the thoughts and interaction. Very interesting topic.

Thanks for the conversation, I greatly appreciate it, and the opportunity to dig deeper into this. I think the scripture you reference illustrates your point well. I also think there are other parts of scripture (Ephesians 2:8–9 for example) that one could point to take the other side. Both sides make great arguments… There is certainly a tension that I can’t resolve…but it is fascinating!

@EschatologyFB @Truth_matters20 Very interesting. I appreciate all the feedback/ideas. What I really like is how Christ is the central point in all of this (obviously), and our differences are secondary. In essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty, in all things charity.

@TokuDude @Christocentrism Fair point. Speaking ill of someone, or wishing evil…not profanity.

@DearS_o_n “Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” Romans 5:3-4

@FireFromHeaven7 “Therefore, if what I eat causes my brother or sister to fall into sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause them to fall.” 1 Corinthians 8:13 NIV

@GodlyAction Mature in Christ, and let His love fill you and push out everything that does not honour God. The love of Christ is so much more powerful than anything the devil can devise.

@DearS_o_n Thanks for sharing this. And thanks for all the people sharing their comments. Nice to know this is a common occurrence.

@Dearme2_ God is real.

Men, lead your families spiritually. Open the Bible. Pray with your wife. Teach your children. Take them to church. Correct sin. Model repentance. Love your wife sacrificially. Make Christ the center of your home. Real change is initiated from the bottom up. Healthy churches are built from healthy families. Healthy families are built through faithful husbands and fathers. And faithful husbands and fathers are men who take seriously the responsibility God has given them. Stop waiting for society to get better. Lead the people God has already entrusted to you. If you want to see society change, start at home.

Mid-week check-in. A couple of extra rest days after camping. That is not a lapse in stewardship. Sometimes maintaining the temple means stopping so the house can recover. The half marathon is close, so the taper has started: less work on purpose, so the body is ready instead of depleted. Coaching on the mats this morning, then a very light push-up and pull-up session — enough to stay in the work, not enough to empty the tank. Stewardship is not constant output. It is care. You honour the temple by training it. You also honour it by letting it rest before it is asked to carry something. The event is not the point. The decorations are not the point. God is. Prepare the house. Then trust Him with the day. Train in Faith.
