That TED Talk video of the new NPR CEO talking about truth has one of the most iconic uses of the word “BUT” I’ve ever seen at the (0:11) mark here. Just textbook. Precede the “BUT” with hedging statements then drop the hammer with what you really mean (the exact opposite).
