Out of defeat, victory. Following sickness for race leader Nordhagen causing a DNS and a DNF from Graat, Darren Van Bekkum is the unlikely hero for Visma Lease A Bike Devo, winning the summit finish at Isard. Will Smith (the man in polka dots) comes 2nd and Matthew Greenwood 3rd

The fearsome Portet d'Aspet early on drew attacks, but the third stage of the Ronde de l'Isard settled down (sort of!) with an impressive Sam Maisonobe (Vendee U) escaping for a solo win. No issues for Nordhagen, he keeps GC lead. Queen stage up Plateau de Beille tomorrow

Also important to note: there was rain in the mountains, but the last climb was dry, along with the downhill and flat to the line. Nordhagen was in full arm warmers, leg warmers, gillet and overshoes. Max was only in arm warmers. Did that extra clothing heat slow Nordhagen?

After going solo on the Peyresourde, Jorgen Nordhagen (VLAB Devo) has a bit of a meltdown in the final, allowing Max Van der Meulen (CT Friuli) back after he was in the breakaway. Max wins the stage, but is well back on GC, so Nordhagen takes a commanding lead there #RDLI2024

It’s a banner day for Swedish cycling, as Edvin Lovidius (CC Etupes) wins solo to start the Ronde de l’Isard. Elsewhere, former teammate Jakob Soderqvist defended the GC of Tour de Bretagne to wrap up the win. Jesse Kramer (VLAB Devo) wins the last stage to get 2nd on GC
