Dr. Katie Szilagyi was a keynote presenter to the Manitoba Justice Legal Services Branch Conference on February 5, 2025. Her presentation was entitled “The Rise of AI in Law: Considerations & Complications.”
She has recently published “Regenerating Justice: ChatGPT and the Legal Minefield of Generative AI” in the Canadian Journal of Law & Technology (2025), 22 Can JL & Tech 109. On January 22, 2025, Dr. Szilagyi participated as one of four UM experts in a riveting panel discussion (through the UM Knowledge Exchange) on the topic of “The Rise of Automation.”
On February 19, 2025, she made her presentation “The Rise of AI in Law: Administrative Considerations” before the judges of the Manitoba Court of King’s Bench as part of their Law at Lunch series.

Her chapter, co-authored by Dr. Christina Fawcett, conceptualizes the impacts of data-driven approaches on law with the warnings about Metaverse that permits a new perspective on the potential policy-making and regulatory challenges imposed by Metaverse-styled environments.
