We are pleased to announce the 42nd Annual Gulf South History & Humanities Conference, sponsored by the Gulf South Historical Association. The meeting will take place October 10-12 in Pensacola, Florida at the Holiday Inn Express Pensacola Downtown. We hope to see you there!
On April 23, Douglas Bristol, Jr., Ph.D. will present the lecture "War as Labor: Mechanization, Mobilization, and New Roles for Black GIs in World War II"

Last Week was the 60th anniversary of Hattiesburg Freedom Day! On January 22, 1964, over 100 Civil Rights activists protested around Forrest County Courthouse. Despite the efforts of local officials, 36 African Americans applied for voter registration a milestone for Hattiesburg.
