In 1874 the German explorer Karl Leche returned from Madagascar and claimed to have witnessed a man-eating tree that was used by the local tribe for human sacrifices. The dense, steaming jungles of Madagascar hold secrets that defy modern science. If you had enough resources, you could run an LLM on a wooden system of gears and diesel power. It would be massive, but watching the gears and levers move, it would be evident that the outputs are not the result of a mind. Part of the illusion of LLMs is the tiny scale of GPUs.

No, AI is not a neural network, for those are made of neurons and there are no neurons in data centers.The statistical probability calculations that AI uses to generate content--all borrowed from human created content--is absolutely nothing like what the human brain does when it thinks. Claiming that it's a "neural network" is another clever bit of propaganda.

Very amusing that tech bros do not understand why we hate them. Straight face saying, Look you're going to have to accept that everything is going to change to your detriment and my benefit, your jobs your art, all that is going away, and also maybe you're going to die, but that is a price I am willing to let you pay on my behalf because rest assured that I will be good. This is Altman, Andreessen, Sacks, Musk, Lonsdale, Karp, Zuck, it's all of them. And none of them get it. Boot on your neck asking you, Why are you struggling?
