Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is “underperforming sales wise”, an analyst has claimed. The game has reportedly sold about half of what Final Fantasy 7 Remake did in the same timeframe. vgc.news/news/final-fan…
@VGC_News Some factors to consider 1. FF7 Remake sold 7m in 4 years 2. It launched with the PS4 install base of 100m+ vs PS5 (40m+) 3. FF7 Remake in 2020 launched before the $70 price hike & during COVID lockdown 4. Only 40% beat FF7 2020 & the ending is confusing for new ppl
@VGC_News What makes me worry….is if they are forced to released the 3rd part exclusive again to PS5 the sales would be lower. So most likely the 3rd part will be released day and date
@VGC_News To me Remake felt nothing like the original, a bloated third person action game. Pretty sure a lot of players felt this and did not bother.
FF7Remake: - launched on PS4 as well - during a stay at home pandemic - probably had people buying it not even knowing it's a trilogy - only people who've beaten it will be interested in buying Rebirth I wonder by how much it underperformed and how unrealistic their expectations were
It's unfortunate to hear that the game is underperforming. I hope that's not the case. It may lead to a more streamlined adventure for game #3 and consideration for a multiplatform release. If I was a developer I'd want my game on all three consoles and on PC as well. A simultaneous release would surely help sales. I would love to see the numbers on how much additional money it would cost to do a simultaneous release on all major platforms, including PC. Either way though, FF7 Rebirth has been pretty fun.
@VGC_News Everyone had a ps4. Lots of people still dont have a ps5 including myself. I’m waiting for steam releases
@VGC_News Yeah… it’s not like “analysts” ever miss the mark all the time and are a joke of the industry you know?😅
@VGC_News Did not meet expectations
Releasing a game in segments with years in between them would naturally kill any momentum it should have. Plus players now know it’s a modified story, AND the game STILL isn’t finished and therefore has no ending. I’m purposefully waiting to play it for the inevitable cheaper/enhanced bundle that will release once it’s completely finished so I can play the entire story naturally.
