@bluebonnetgaz @WASPZoomer Because we live in a world where people have rights and we don’t fucking murder people for having wrong ideas.

@WASPZoomer Pagans are a niche group that collect crystals and smudge sage and make up shit about the phases of the moon. They are harmless eccentrics.

@DavidAn1611 @lukeappleton “I feel like…” is the key word.

@SaintEcclesia @ElMonterreyense @lukeappleton Yes, God is omniscient and fully loves us and his saints who are members of the Body of the Son share in both. We are the Body of Christ on Heaven and on Earth. Praying to and with the Saints is praying to and through Christ. It’s a both/and deal.

@DavidAn1611 @lukeappleton What about “Can I have my daily bread with that? Oh, and forgive me and save from evil while you’re at it?”

@Diane4030275165 @lukeappleton It’s not an either/or. We are all the Body of Christ and it is through Christ that intercession happens. We are commanded to pray for each for each other and to pray without ceasing: why should death stand in the way of that?

Essentially, yes. The very word comes from “precor, precari” which means “ask, beg, implore.” In older English you have senses like “Pray tell” and “Prithee/I pray thee (i.e., “please.”). Once “prayer” became semantically limited to asking things of God or the saints, other types of devotion like contemplation and meditation and the rest got accumulated under the heading of “prayer.” But at the root, “pray” means “ask.” The connection is clearer in German with “Bitte” and “beten.”

@Gre29 @martini_wahine2 @lukeappleton Yes! And those members of the Body that have entered into the nearer Presence of God enjoy the Beatific Vision and participate in God’s knowledge and will much more closely than we do now, which is how they can hear and intercede with us.

@bringsmileback5 @lukeappleton You despise Jesus’ intercession in his Body. Repent!

@DylanRGoldsmith @lukeappleton We celebrate the the Eucharist, and the Eucharist is of course the sacramental re-presentation of the only one true act of worship on the Cross.
