Alaska House members propose constitutional amendment to allow public money for private schools, reports James Brooks (@AK_OK) of the @AlaskaBeacon: alaskabeacon.com/briefs/alaska-… #akleg
@AlaskaBeacon @AK_OK Bill says it will follow election protocol. Will we be voting on this or will it be signed into law by Papa Mike after making the rounds?
@ValhallaTears @AlaskaBeacon Constitutional amendments aren't veto-able and don't require governor approval; if they get two-thirds of the House and two-thirds of the Senate, they go to a vote
@AK_OK @AlaskaBeacon So we would see it on the Nov ballot? Or is there a special election option before the school year?
@ValhallaTears @AlaskaBeacon There could be, if the Legislature calls for it, but in this case, I was thinking of a scenario where it might end up on the primary election ballot. I think that deadline's about to pass, though, and it's 99% to end up in November.
@AK_OK @AlaskaBeacon Maybe they are fast tracking it to make a deadline. Is it normal seeing the hearings scheduled so close together and anounced like that?
