Should social media have age limits? Florida Governor Desantis becomes the first to do so. @patrickbetdavid discusses whether or not social media should have age requirements.
@ValuetainmentTV @patrickbetdavid I agree with it and that’s how it’s been in my house.
@ValuetainmentTV @patrickbetdavid the point is can it be enforced. you know how kids are when you tell them not to do something.
@ValuetainmentTV @patrickbetdavid I think it’s got it’s pros and cons tho

Just Google how many kids get harm by social media whether bowling or trying to repeat dangerous things that that people do on tik tok Even 16 is young for some kids I believe this is safety from insanity Or the other way around, make sure kids can only hang out with kids in those apps that adults cannot see their accounts, and then on top of that we have plenty of AI that can figure out if something is disturbing shown people is trying to upload it
Yes. But impossible to enforce. Discord for example is loaded with minors who are game players. Lots of money invested by game companies into Discord APIs for social dialogs. TikTok and Instagram both have a massive underage audience. Kids will just lie about their age to sign up. So how to enforce?
@ValuetainmentTV @patrickbetdavid At the bare minimum, there should be. As a parent, if you need the state to do this for you, you should take a step back to reevaluate what being a parent means. Don't get me wrong, I believe there are many pros to social media, but they are defentley outweighed by the cons
@ValuetainmentTV @patrickbetdavid Most social media does have age limits. How can they enforce them. The parents need to be the ones to make sure their kids r not on anything their not supposed to be
