The history you propose is merely your opinion until you can back it up with facts. Something like how Europe countered the Russian nuclear threat, held the Russian armored divisions at the Fulda Gap, and neutered the Severny Flot. As for building a global superpower using resources provided by Europe, yes, of course. History supports that statement. -Collaborate to defeat Germany. -Recognize that Europe didn't have a chance to keep from Russia's warm Stalinist embrace. - Draw America into a European defense pact, despite American resistance. Of course thr USA does benefit from a relationship with Europe. It has been a one sided partnership for over 50 years. The point of the thread is that the EU would have never existed without that one sided partnership for over half a century. That is not an indictment of the relationship or an arrogant statement. It is an acknowledgement that the USA needs Europe as a buffer on the continent to counter the then U.S.S.R.
