@irishkells @DavidLarter .@IanWToll’s trilogy series on the pacific is the best piece of modern literature I have read to date on the entire pacific naval campaign and even does a better job than older works in my opinion. All three are a must read. They read almost as fiction with pace, very thrilling.

@DavidLarter Nagumo would’ve likely been able to send 2 or 3 strikes against midway and land the troops whole redeploying to find Spruance
@DavidLarter I am a firm believer that without Rochefort USN would’ve been caught on their ass. DC discounted that Yamamoto was going to strike midway vehemently. When the Aleutian Islands were hit Nimitz would’ve likely deployed somewhere without exactly know where Nagumo was.

Fascinating thread on the EU. I don’t see a future with the EU still standing like we know it today. This was bound to happen but coronavirus has sped everything up.
Now is probably a good time to explain, why I did, quite recently, turn an EU-skeptic. While the #EU failed to heed the lessons of #Brexit, the #recoveryfund is even bigger issue. Economic arguments for it make no sense. A thread on 'stealth' federalization of the #EU. 1/25
@jonostrower They do this from time to time. Lots of tensions in that entire region. Lots has to do with Soviet history, disregard for ethnic borders and such.
So today was the definition of a SNAFU for Twitter. I am very concerned about the integrity of political accounts and the ramifications of something like this. Even more important with an election coming up.
