You know that suffocating air at an airport when everything goes to hell? That was Chicago O’Hare. Flight 412, delayed over three hours. Everyone at the gate was ready to snap. Guys in expensive suits screaming in the face of a terrified gate agent. Exhausted toddlers face down on the carpet, sobbing. Nobody looking anyone in the eye. Just two thousand strangers trapped in pure, ugly misery. Then the intercom crackles to life. "Ladies and gentlemen... please welcome home the veterans of today's Honor Flight." And the entire terminal just froze. Down the center of the concourse came ten wheelchairs. Ten old men in faded navy caps. Eighty years ago, they were boys walking straight into gunfire so the world would not burn. Right up front was a ninety eight year old man. His hands were shaking hard, clutching a tiny framed photo on his lap. A black and white picture of a girl with curled hair from 1944. Smiling up at him. Dead silence fell over that gate. Then, a construction worker sitting on a bag, dusty boots, neon orange vest, he drops his phone. He stands up. And he starts clapping. Hard. Next to him, a businessman slams his laptop shut and stands. Then five people behind them. Then fifty. Then the entire concourse. In ten seconds flat, two thousand miserable, furious strangers lined both sides of that hallway like a wall of living stone. Teenagers ripped out their earbuds. Dads hoisted their little boys onto their shoulders. Big, tough men pulled off their hats, pressed them against their chests, and did not even bother wiping away the tears running down their faces. The roar that bounced off the glass ceiling was not just applause. It was thunder. It hit you right in the ribs. And then, God, this is the part that wrecks you. The ninety eight year old man slides that photograph into his coat pocket. And he tries to stand. He wants to return the salute. His hands grip the armrests, his knuckles turning white, but his knees are shaking so violently they just buckle under him. He cannot make it up alone. Before his feet can slip, a young Marine in uniform bolts forward. At the exact same second, another traveler lunges in from the crowd. They do not say a word. They just lock their hands under his elbows and heave him straight up onto his feet. Solid as an oak tree. And that old warrior raises a trembling hand to his brow, locking in the sharpest, proudest salute you have ever seen. Standing tall on the strength of two strangers, while thousands of people cheered until their voices gave out. You want to know what the soul of a people looks like? Do not watch the news. Just watch how a room full of angry strangers treats an old soldier whose sword was laid down eighty years ago.

She had given up on living. Six years old. Bald head. Bruised arms covered in needles. For five straight days, she had not spoken a single word. She would not look at her weeping mother. She refused to let a nurse touch her. She had completely surrendered to the darkness. Ten brilliant doctors could not reach her. A million dollars of machinery failed. Then a clumsy dog walked into her room. His official badge read: Captain Pancake. Director of Morale. A ninety pound golden retriever who had spent the elevator ride drooling on my boots and trying to chew through his own leash. In my homeland, elite warriors do not drool on strangers. I thought America had lost its mind. Until that hospital door opened. The moment he crossed the threshold, the goofy dog vanished. Something sacred took over. He made no sound on the cold floor. No barking. No begging. He walked straight to her bed. He lowered his massive head, resting his heavy golden chin on the mattress, one inch from her motionless fingers. He just looked up at her with deep, warm brown eyes. No pity. No fear. Only pure, unwavering devotion. Total silence in the room. Then, the miracle happened. Her tiny, pale fingers moved. Slowly, she buried her hand deep into his soft golden ear. Captain Pancake closed his eyes, let out a long, heavy breath, and let loose a ridiculous snore like an old tractor starting in the freezing cold. The little girl gasped. And then, she laughed. A sweet, ringing sound that cut straight through the despair. Her mother collapsed into a chair, covering her face with both hands, sobbing so hard her shoulders shook. For forty minutes, ninety pounds of golden fur did what all of modern science never could. In my tradition, we honor men who draw steel. We write poems for warriors who fall in bloody battle. Standing in that sterile hallway, my chest tightened with pure reverence. The greatest warrior in that entire hospital carried no blade. He wore no armor. He took the terror, the loneliness, and the agony of a broken child entirely onto his own back, and asked for nothing in return. When Captain Pancake finally walked out, I pressed my back against the wall, squared my shoulders, and bowed from the deepest part of my soul. He looked up at me, wagged his tail, and tried to eat my sleeve. I let him.

Love that President Oaks repeatedly brought up the lost tribes of Israel. They’re coming and bringing their records with them.

I'm going to be honest, I was low-key expecting President Oaks to hold up One of the records from the lost tribes of Israel.

PRESIDENT OAKS I'M READY FOR THE SCRIPTURES OF THE LOST TRIBES

@plasmarob ... and no cold oatmeal! 😁

Did President @OaksDallinH just mention about additional scriptures in the earth to come forth? 📖 Lost 10 Tribes scriptures, scriptures from other nations, etc? 🌎 How excited would you be for that!? 🙏

Dallin H. Oaks is one of the most brilliant men alive He’s given almost 110 sermons in the past four plus decades as a member of the Quorum of Twelve Apostles I’ve listened to all of them multiple times. I try to listen to one sermon of his each day. Today he gave one of the best sermons I’ve ever heard. I hope you’ll consider watching it — or any of his past sermons. Decades ago he was a whisker away from being appointed to the U. S. Supreme Court That’s how brilliant he is. God had other plans for him. God had a ministry for him. Remember the Bible teaches in Amos 3:7 that “Surely the Lord God will do nothing but He revealeth His secret until His servants the prophets.” This living prophet Dallin H. Oaks just proclaimed that new scriptures will yet come forth which show how Jesus, after His resurrection 2,000 years ago, visited His “other sheep” which were not on the fold of Jerusalem. I have known this before. But his reminder of these future revelations moved me today. I believe discover of additional ancient scriptures may happen sooner than I used to think. The Bible is the word of God and it proclaims the divinity of Jesus Christ. Another book also teaches that same truth; in fact, the title page of the Book of Mormon, first published in 1829, says it is written for “the convincing of the Jew and Gentile that JESUS is the CHRIST, the ETERNAL GOD, manifesting himself unto all nations.” President Oaks confirmed that God and Christ remember all people on the entire earth and that grace is literally available to all, including what the scriptures call “the heather” — all are alike unto God and He remembers them all. Salvation is not for a chosen few who were somehow pre-destined. Grace is available to all who come unto Christ (now, or even after they die, they will have a chance to receive His gifts of grace.) Pres. Oaks said God expects us to seek truth via the scientific method and via the spiritual method — and that ultimately all scientific and spiritual truths will be in complete harmony. He has always sought learning by study and by faith. I believe this explains his brilliance. He finds truth in two powerful ways — reason and revelation. As a #Learner I have always been drawn to study ancient texts and to discover the wisdom and lessons they contain. A living Prophet of God just said we can expect further scriptures to come forth showing how Jesus Christ, The Eternal God, remembers all people everywhere. I can hardly wait. Oh yes, and remember when it happens, it was foretold, by a prophet of God.
