UPDATE: Mom is currently resting right now after her fall last night. While she did hit her head on the floor and develop blood on the brain, she also has a large bruise on her hip which will be tested today. God knows what he’s doing because when I entered the facility I was ready to hurt someone’s feelings. But with a new unit supervisor who’s only been on the job for two weeks and has noticed many things that need to be changed, I felt a little better. I did mention that I spent time in the Gulf War and my mom has more injuries than I ever had. Mom has fallen close to 10 times since December.
@WayneDupreeShow Praying for your mother and family 🙏
@WayneDupreeShow Sorry to hear about the fall. I am praying for her and you, my friend.
@WayneDupreeShow Hospitals and rehabs are understaffed. I could go on & on—. Experienced similar events w/a parent & then I, when didn’t have husband in hospital rm (& ICU) 2 advocate was left, needing help. Bed alarms R a tool. U can insist on a “sitter” in some places, but not others.
Wayne, if you or a family member or good friend can’t be with her most of the time there are caregivers of all different levels (DSP, CNA, LPN, RN, etc) you can hire to visit with her and monitor things while also helping to feed her, watch that they follow through on what they are supposed to do, and even entertain her (cards, games, crafts, music) if she likes that kind of thing and is able. I don’t know if cameras are allowed in their rooms, but that’s something you should check out as well. Praying for her health and safety!
@WayneDupreeShow If they don't already, perhaps they could put a bed alarm on her bed or chair so they know if she gets up without assistance. I've also seen fall-risk patients get moved close to the nurses' station, so they're easier to monitor. Sending 🙏🏽🙏🏽 to you both.
@WayneDupreeShow Prayers for a quick healing 🙏🏼
My next door neighbor has horror stories of her mom who was in assisted living. Best to keep an eye on her if you can. If she has been classified as disabled and if you have her MPOA, they legally have to answer your questions as her advocate. She has rights under the ADA as an American with a disability.
