1) The new anti-#therapy argument being promoted by @AbigailShrier and others is a half-truth. The evidence is clear that approaches based on #CBT, and #mindfulness from properly licensed Clinical Psychologists really do work very well. Unfortunately there is a lot of rubbish
2) as well. Various "professionals" without the proper training (MSWs, Counselors etc.,) are administering therapy when they shouldn't be in a huge percentage of cases. Only clinical Psychologists and Psychiatrists really have the training to administer CBT or Mindfulness
3) in an effective way. Further to that there are many methods that just don't have much evidence behind them: (e.g., talk-therapy, #Jungian, #psychodynamic) so much of that stuff is in the words of Tony Soprano a "Jerk-off."
4) There is indeed a mental health crisis and the evidence is clear that contemporary aspects of our culture and modernity are to blame. Evidence-based approaches to #therapy based on CBT and mindfulness are, frankly, necessary for combating the mental health crisis.
