Everytime I'm forced to work with Node and JavaScript, I'm reminded of why I stopped using this ecosystem. glad AI is capable of handling this abhorrent ecosystem.
@knowonesreal2 @Pirat_Nation Sure, bud. you won't be able to pull an "artcraft" with Windows because there is a ton of services that Windows uses where Claude won't be able to replicate without reverse engineering but sure.
@knowonesreal2 @Pirat_Nation You can't. Their Eula prohibits people from decompiling Windows. if you did, they will send a cease and desist or do something else.
@LundukeJournal @dhh @omarchy Not even a fan of Omarchy, but now it makes perfect sense why I never liked gnome. among a heap of other technical problems.
@LundukeJournal Doesn't Linus T. himself use AI? They act like AI threatens their mere existence and I've been noticing this over the past week.
I still run Windows 11 on my main machine and today while profiling my network activity on Windows, I realized there are so many bots, unknown connections, and services that takes so much bandwidth off my machine for no Reason. I will check Fedora to see what is on their side.
@Pirat_Nation More or less just a Javascript app running on the OS webview/webkit. this is Tauri and not a native Rust code. be careful because this will use more ram than standard adobe or C++ opensource alternatives. Still an impressive feat.
@firefox People glazing FF and shutting down complaints are literally the reason why FF is on the decline and may eventually bankrupt soon. Keep going, people. you're doing a great job!
@WindowsLatest So, basically Krunner but for Windows?
@reddit_lies Both are still running on a Javascript Engine. so neither are native and will use a lot of memory than needed but the Rust framework, Tauri, is still better at memory consumption than Electron.
@reddit_lies Spotify runs on a Chrome framework called Electron. which is why it hogs a lot of Memory. the newer frameworks, like the one used here is called Tauri. which essentially, shares the OS' Webview services, hence lowering the memory footprint. it's not C++ QT but still better.
I probably broke my first Fedora KDE install. because trying it again, it is a flawless experience. and I even fixed a lot of prior issues I had on the first install. I think you need to play around with a linux-distro before committing to it.
@Pirat_Nation FYI: when you Enable TPM, it is basically a hardware tracker. it has full digital fingerprinting of your entire hardware. ID, Serial Number, all of that. this is how a hardware ban like this can go through.
@Pirat_Nation We should ban hammers. Because I argue that hammers could be used to break into homes, damage properties, or harm people.
@rfleury Not trying to discredit how you feel, but this did happen to me on Windows 11 early last year and googled my way through. I tried Fedora KDE and this didn't happen to me. regardless, you probably could google your way through. It's part of problem-solving after all.
