@Welfare_JBP @ballmatthew The Coalition worked on Hivebusters, Gears Pop, Gears Tacitics, Unreal Engine Matrix demo, Project Alpha, Unreal Engine 5 support for Ninja Theory, Obsidian Entertainment, and 343 Industries. That's where $500m over 7 years comes from.

Apparently some people on this app have either short term memory or don’t know how to read 🤷‍♂️

@JezCorden These rumors are false. Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution will stay exclusive. There are no conversations and have been no conversations to "reverse course." And as we said last week, players can continue to expect signature exclusives from us every year.

@Sonnie_Slim That’s fair, I have no idea how these shows work and I imagine they take months to plan so she may not have had any part in that idk. Not enough for me to consider them on the same level as previous leadership, tho it was weird.

@Sonnie_Slim For sure, but until we see Phil Spencer levels of backtracking from the new peeps I think it’s silly to deny what they say. If they go back on something like Gears I’ll be right there with ya

@PaulTassi @Forbes also fwiw i pushed back on the structure of the budget, not the budget itself, which i understand to represent the entire coalition and not specifically e-day. (they do stuff on other games) but that was how the old regime structured it, new regime might see it differently.

@FuuTop1 Prepare for this to happen to EVERY Xbox console exclusive going forward. They’ll say the same things about Clockwork next year

Hey @ballmatthew want to debunk this too?

Kotaku @Kotaku

A source tells Kotaku that Gears of War: E-Day cost over $500 million to make. Sales estimates have been weak despite earning the highest Metacritic score since the original trilogy. If it was never going to recoup its expenses, maybe it could achieve more as an Xbox console

Mass Effect was my first assignment at Xbox. It was a first-party game and an Xbox exclusive. I'd arrived near the end of a very long development cycle. My job was to make sure it landed well with retailers, critics, and fans. And it really did. The relationship was over almost as soon as it began. EA acquired BioWare just weeks before Mass Effect shipped, and management of the title was handed over in 2008. I got to visit BioWare's headquarters in Edmonton and see the shelves crammed with every kind of role-playing game imaginable. It was an old-school creative culture producing something the world had never seen, both technically and as a work of storytelling. What Drew Karpyshyn achieved as a writer, and the team achieved as world-builders, has never been quite equaled. I'm glad I got to be a small part of it, however briefly.

Nah local hardware is the best @asha_shar @ballmatthew Pls don’t try to make this the “future of play” local hardware will always be king. I do NOT want to live in a future where access to my purchased games are solely locked behind a monthly cloud payment.

@chaosprimeZ @asha_shar @ballmatthew All I know is I refuse to pay a monthly sub service to access games I’ve already payed for. Xbox has my support as long as they make local hardware.

@rockisinfinite Yes how dare someone ask for an IP they like to be given to a different company instead of it just flat out dying and never getting a new entry. Y’all are just miserable on this app 🤣 Go outside, you need it!

@MonsierOblivion Yeah you’re right we should just let the IP die and never get a new entry cause “muh console wars” and “Xbawx Baaaaaaad!” 🙄 Maybe stop being such a miserable goofball. Life might be more fun!

@XBOXTIMDOG I think it’s “fine” little overpriced imo. Just hope this never becomes the only option to play Xbox games! Local hardware will always be superior imo

It’d be cool if @XBOX @asha_shar @ballmatthew could reach out and grab the Mass Effect IP. It’s such a nostalgic franchise for Xbox fans, especially ones from the 360 gen. Heck I bet @inXile could make a pretty great Mass Effect game!
