God did not wrap himself up in flesh, humbling himself to the point of birth in a stable and death on a cross, eating, laughing, weeping, and suffering as one of us, so that I can complain to management when a barista at Starbucks wishes me “Happy Holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas.” - Rachel Held Evans
@ZachWLambert Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't this a story 8 or 10 years ago while Obama was in office? Why try to arouse division amongst Christians over a decade-old story?
@ZachWLambert God did not wrap Himself up in flesh, humbling Himself to the point of birth in a stable and death on a cross, eating, laughing, weeping, and suffering as one of us so that we continue in sin, in slavery to our lusts. He wants us to be free. He can set us free. Hallelujah.
@ZachWLambert It struck me this morning that in the Incarnation God didn't just wrap himself in flesh, he BECAME a human being. There's an instructive incident in Acts 14, where Paul & Barnabas heal a cripple, & in response the ppl see them as Zeus & Hermes in human form,
@ZachWLambert Where in the gospels does it say he laughed? Apocalyptic prophets are seldom joyful about that whole impending end of the world thing- well, unless they’re quite mad having been rendered so by Cthulhu…
@ZachWLambert I am happy to focus in on the “good will towards men/women” message.
@ZachWLambert I worked as a sales rep for 42 years. I started saying "Happy Holidays" to my customers so I didn't have to stop and think about which holidays they observed. I didn't mean any disrespect to anyone. It was like, "Whatever holidays you observe, have a good one."
@ZachWLambert The apostles never said “merry christmas”. Jesus never did. I think he’d be way more upset at how “Christians” celebrate his birth rather than his life and his message. Commemorate the sermon on the mount and its message instead. Happy Hanukkah! (Even though it’s over)
