I have never understood the common phenomenon of driving to the gym (in good weather) simply to walk on a treadmill.
@ZubyMusic Two things I always laugh at: People using treadmills and bikes at the gym. I'm sorry, but like, go outside, it's free.
@ZubyMusic I live in the flatlands, sometimes you need a hill :)
@ZubyMusic It's kind of weird, but possibilities: No good walking areas. Some neighborhoods don't have good sidewalks or trails. Some people want to limit sun exposure. Hay fever. Since this is Austin, if the pollen is off the charts, even I'll drive to the gym instead.
@ZubyMusic I imagine it’s because people like the energy of the gym. Or there are subconscious cues tied to the physical location. Like how people use the bed only for sleep, which helps insomniacs to get rest. Not my cup of tea, but I can see how it makes sense.
@ZubyMusic From what I see often is it’s just to look at other people and converse while taking up equipment
@ZubyMusic I do this, but I run, not walk, and only because where I live there are only backroad with no street lamps and I run at 5am. As often as I almost hit a deer, I dont want to be the runner that hit.
@ZubyMusic If it gets people out of their houses and into a gym exercising, then who cares. Mission accomplished
