Who else just can't stop bitcoin posting? I feel a great sense of validation and accomplishment. Today the world recognizes that bitcoin is important. It acknowledges that people clamor for it; that millions see in bitcoin the hope for a better future.

In other words, if one specific actor that’s 18x smaller doesn’t make drastic changes, Lido will monopolize and centralize eth PoS. In PoW miners need to do increasing marginal work just to maintain their share of hash rate. In PoS all that’s needed is existing network effect.

In #Ethereum's history, complexity never decreased. Every EIP is piling on top. Every major change (1559, merge, sharding, verkle, stateless, L2, etc) is one more nail. I'm extremely frustrated when a research proposal says "everything's figured out, it's just engineering now".

As good as it feels that we're approaching The Merge, I must emphasize that #Ethereum is not going in a clean direction. Tangentially it's achieving results, but it's also piling complexity like there's no tomorrow. If the protocol doesn't get slimmer, it's not going to make it.

1/ Today, Lido's stETH has a 25% share of all staked ETH and 87% of staking derivatives. But also today, staking derivatives are 29% of staked ETH and may grow to 80%+ within two years. Lido is on track to control, say, 50%+ of all staked ETH. imo, it's a real problem 👇

@Jasper_ETH @Rocket_Pool It's true. Lido is a runaway growth train rn. imo, it's possible, maybe even likely if we stay on our current trajectory, that within two years, 50%+ of all ETH (not just staked ETH) may be run under Lido.

1/ @LidoFinance has long been a clear leader as other liquid staking protocols failed to gain traction. Since Jan 2021, Lido’s growth has been immense, with over 25% of total ETH2 deposits staked with Lido currently. Last week, Lido had its largest daily deposit of 197k ETH.

@ModTremilliatr1 @TejTrades_ Visa and similar tech is just a thin payments overlay on top of fiat/bank rails. It's not a bottom-up decentralized scarce money system, and it's not censorship-resistant. Efficient payments are not the hard part. All of those other aspects are the hard part.

Power is not completely fungible. Due to fluctuating demand and fluctuating supply, there is not a perfect match. As such, power frequently has a negative price.

@nic__carter I'd go one further: think about who ultimately pays that negative price; The renewable energy consumer does, when the resource is actually in demand. 0 out the negative price period and you get lower price renewable energy when needed. Negative price = economically destructive

@Santiag78758327 @cyber_hokie Early users publicized it as best they could, and expended resources to mine it with no advantage over anyone else. Satoshi absorbed all development costs prior to launch and in early years, and then never sold a coin. So yes, compare that to other blockchains.

@Santiag78758327 Satoshi mined it when it was available to the public. He expended resources to do so at the market rate like anyone else, so by definition it's not seigniorage. And then he also never sold any.
