When I was in college (EE), I wished my professors would care enough to make students have a deep understanding of topics. It was all surface level, formulaic, and emotionless. I imagine it wasn’t the same 50 years ago. I only felt real passion during my engineering internships

Same thing happens in high school too. The filter in high school and college is too easy. So many students cheat their way through and programs are busy work. Employers are figuring this out. Work experience is the only thing they care about now.

Only going to get more stratified as time goes on. You get a hint of it now looking at screen time for children differing by socioeconomic status.

I feel within a hundred years or so GDP will be so high, population growth so slow that working for money to live will become optional. Government will supply the minimum for food and housing. Work will be opt-in, everyone else will be like the people from Wall-E

People want to ban lab-grown meat out of fear it’ll outcompete real meat. Slippery slope leads to no more real meat. Not optimistic about fake meat but these bans seem overkill. Don’t subsidize it, require it to be labeled. How’s it so different from other meat substitutes today

Rising autism rates are hand-in-hand with rising anxiety rates. Kids are growing up with significantly less confidence in themselves to handle changes in environment. These kids, who would benefit from more responsibility, get labeled as ill and receive even less.

Righteousness is addicting, has no immediate cost, and makes you feel good. Get to vote for and act like you’re helping people while you do nothing for the existing community you live in.

I strongly believe most people are in situations they feel deserved If you overperform, you get anxious and hide from responsibility (media, drugs, alcohol). if you underperform you get angry and motivated. How much can you change what you feel deserved? Must be partly innate.
What actually happens is you wear yourself out until you relapse. Actual thing to do is understand why you get these cravings in the first place and address that. Most of the time the actions to do so are very very simple but feel wrong, unnatural, and impossible.

I highly doubt there is one major cause that can be eliminated. Maybe for the most severe cases. It’s similar to the rising rates in anxiety/depression. Purely due to the many rapid lifestyle changes in the last 30 years. An insane amount of factors to address.

Lol, complaining about going to state schools. It was never consistently achievable to go to the ivys off of high school accomplishments. The filter is too easy, many students have a “4.0”. You can always be the best at a state school which guarantees post-grad at an ivy.
