Sunday; Blockchain Security, Tokenized Finance and the Next Wave of Builders
What’s Coming Up Today...
WAX BRIDGE EXPLOIT EXPOSES A $90,500 SMART-CONTRACT FLAW
A vulnerability in the WAX Multi-Chain Bridge allowed an attacker to withdraw approximately $90,500 in digital assets without paying for them.
An investigation published by Bitquery on 24 October found that the attacker exploited a negative-fee validation flaw to extract assets across WAX, Solana and Ethereum. Most of the stolen funds reached HitBTC deposit addresses within 38 minutes.
WAX subsequently replaced the affected contract code and introduced transfer limits. The incident highlights how a small validation error can create significant cross-chain security risks.
FRANKLIN TEMPLETON ADDS $150M IN TOKENISED FUND SHARES TO XRP LEDGER
Franklin Templeton added approximately $150 million in shares of its tokenised money-market fund to the XRP Ledger, according to reporting published on Saturday.
The transactions brought the fund's holdings on the network to nearly 193 million shares. However, all the reported shares remain in one wallet, and it is unclear whether that wallet represents a single investor or multiple clients.
The development highlights growing institutional use of blockchain for traditional financial assets, while raising questions about custody and how ownership is represented onchain.
22 COMPANIES OBJECT TO PROPOSED TOKENISED STOCK LISTINGS
Opposition to OKX and Intercontinental Exchange's proposed tokenised-stock trading platform has grown to 22 companies, including Wells Fargo, Cisco, Microsoft and Alphabet.
The companies have objected to having tokenised versions of their shares listed on the planned venue.
The dispute highlights a central challenge for tokenised equities: expanding access to blockchain-based markets while respecting issuer rights, shareholder protections and existing securities rules.
BITCOIN FALLS BELOW $80,000 AS GEOPOLITICAL TENSIONS PRESSURE CRYPTO MARKETS
Bitcoin dropped below $80,000 on Saturday, reaching its weakest level in more than a month as renewed geopolitical concerns weighed on financial markets.
Ether, XRP and Solana also declined during the reported sell-off. The move underscores how macroeconomic and geopolitical developments can influence digital assets alongside crypto-specific factors.
Price levels remain volatile, so Saturday's figures should not be treated as today's live market prices.
ENCODE LONDON HACKATHON CONCLUDES WITH FINAL DEMOS AND JUDGING
Encode London's three-day hackathon reaches its final day today in Shoreditch, London.
Developers are completing projects across AI and Web3 before submissions close at noon local time, followed by demonstrations, judging and awards.

The development highlights how established financial institutions are increasingly treating digital assets and blockchain infrastructure as additional services alongside conventional banking.
CIRCLE TARGETS 40 NEW MARKETS AS STABLECOIN ADOPTION EXPANDS
Circle plans to expand into approximately 40 emerging and developing markets as demand for stablecoins and blockchain-based financial services grows.
Chief executive Jeremy Allaire told Reuters that markets across Africa, Southeast Asia, Latin America and the Middle East are experiencing increased demand for digital-dollar services and internet-based financial infrastructure.
The company's expansion plans come as financial institutions increasingly explore stablecoins for cross-border settlement and digital payments.

TOKENISED STOCKS FACE CORPORATE RESISTANCE AS WALL STREET EXPLORES BLOCKCHAIN TRADING
The push to bring traditional shares onto blockchain platforms is encountering resistance from some of the companies whose stocks could be traded through the proposed systems.
A report by Barron's highlighted objections from nine companies among 63 approached by OKXICE, a proposed tokenised-securities venture involving crypto exchange OKX and Intercontinental Exchange, the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange.
The concerns underline the challenges facing blockchain-based securities markets, including questions about liquidity, investor protections, corporate rights and how tokenised shares should interact with existing market structures.
While tokenisation continues to attract financial institutions, the development demonstrates that bringing traditional securities onchain requires more than the technology itself: companies, regulators and market operators must also agree on the rules.
