@Raikageb33 @MBTYuGiOh you think that's a close-up? check out how much you have to zoom in on souleater's cranium to see the lil fish guy

@MBTYuGiOh Bonus: in his largest appearance, in the DS game Spirit Caller (goated game btw), you can duel against him in which he uses food themed cards, can gift the player the Ra Yellow jacket, and runs the tutorials/puzzles. Plus in the anime everyone forgot about him as a filler plot.

@MBTYuGiOh Everyone knows Crowler and Banner as the profs of Obelisk and Slifer in GX, but in all media there's very little on Prof Sartyr, of Ra Yellow. 1 duel in the anime, next to no panels in the manga, and is a lottery trader in tag force; he is a chef and duels with curry-themed cards

@MBTYuGiOh we need more people akin to jess who just show up with an off-meta pet deck and show a whole new skill ceiling for said deck. it takes effort from random individuals, but increases interest in and diversity of tournament results so much, and pushes innovation in general.

@Xagor1 @MBTYuGiOh I'm doing a lot of hypothesizing and while yata-lock's specific strength would last longer, time seal focused versions would not have lasted as a win condition as early as 2007. every ban-list beyond gladiator's assault I am considering a questionable ban-tier inclusion.

@adobentoo @MBTYuGiOh I already posted this, but I want to double down outside of my original that the draw phase lock wincon stopped being good very early on into the game relative especially to how long it was banned.

@Xagor1 @MBTYuGiOh the fundamental problem with that strat is that (in contrast to yata-ced) unless you have drawn into hand rips, your opponent still has a full hand to deal with the loop.

@TeebsBeebs @MBTYuGiOh it says to skip the draw phase, which is the immediate first phase of the turn. if they allowed that, they would have been smoking some shi.

@Eragonnogare @MBTYuGiOh I do not agree with that assessment and I do not think this card would cause tournament guidelines issues.

@Eragonnogare @MBTYuGiOh the card is not powerful and the fear of a yata lock stunned whoever makes the ban list for far too long, even when limited. there were cards far more powerful than it while it was banned at 1 that were near direct comparisons. I will die on this hill if I must.

@Eragonnogare @MBTYuGiOh implications do not explain the over-a-year gap between yata being set free from 1 to 3 and time seal getting stuck in limited time out despite being worse.

@TeebsBeebs @MBTYuGiOh if you're referring to makyura, it got banned in about 6 months after releasing, otherwise it could never be activated legally before your opponent could draw.

@Eragonnogare @MBTYuGiOh okay, now contrast it to yata, which loops itself and was put to 3 from 1 even quicker. this is lower power scale within the subcategory itself, let alone the lack of implications resolving to anything even hypothetically good.

@RANK10YGO I actually think the examples of subterrors and enneacraft are good as to what a flip monster can be in an abstract sense: subterrors being behemoths hidden in cave-y darkness, and enneacraft as some weird lore about being unassuming octahedrons that turn into punishment mechas.
