John Wall says he still texts his mother every morning and night and has continued to pay her phone bill to keep her number active since she passed away in 2019 “I made sure I paid the bill for that for the rest of the time I’m going to be on this earth, so I can send my daily text in the morning and my daily text at night” “It helps me. I know she can’t respond, but I can still send my messages and know that nobody else has her number. And sometimes you have your moments when you just sitting at home and you just reflect” “And I always look at pictures and reflect. My display screen on my phone is my first game against the Sixers, and we win the game and I give her a hug, and I always keep that as my bio picture”

Funny but also true 😂😂😂

I’ve watched this video several times, and what disturbs me most isn’t the moment the gate closes. It’s everything that happened before it. For five days, these animals returned to the same place, ate the same food, and walked away unharmed. Each visit made the next one easier. Nothing about the environment appeared to change, yet something important was happening. Their behavior was becoming predictable. What looked like an ordinary feeding routine was gradually becoming the foundation of a trap they had no reason to anticipate. What makes the situation particularly unsettling is the patience of the person behind it. He didn’t need to chase the animals or force them into the enclosure. He simply created the conditions under which they would enter willingly. The food was real, the rewards were immediate, and the consequences remained hidden. While the animals were responding to what was directly in front of them, someone else was thinking several steps ahead. The difference wasn’t physical strength or intelligence alone. It was the advantage of understanding the entire arrangement while the other side understood only its immediate benefits. And this is where the video becomes a disturbing reflection of human behavior. Not every dangerous arrangement announces itself through cruelty or deception. Some begin with opportunity, generosity, and an extraordinary degree of convenience. People become attached to what consistently rewards them, often without examining the conditions that make those rewards possible. They confuse being accommodated with being valued, being needed with being indispensable, and having access with having control. The danger isn’t necessarily that someone is lying to them. It’s that they may be making permanent decisions based on circumstances someone else can change overnight. But there’s an even more uncomfortable realization here. The animals didn’t lose their freedom because they wanted food. They lost it because the environment was designed to turn an ordinary need into an opportunity for capture. And that distinction matters. Having needs doesn’t make someone foolish, and accepting help doesn’t make someone weak. The real danger begins when another person understands your dependencies better than you understand their intentions. At that point, they may not need to control your decisions directly. They only need to control the circumstances under which those decisions are made. What stays with me is what happened after the gate closed. The food remained exactly where it had always been, but the animals’ attention shifted toward the boundaries of the enclosure. I can’t know what they understood, yet the contrast is striking. Nothing about the reward had changed. What changed was their ability to leave. And perhaps that’s something people rarely consider while life is going well. We spend so much time evaluating what an arrangement gives us that we forget to ask what it would cost to walk away from it. Sometimes the true price of a benefit becomes visible only when you try to refuse it. The lesson I take from this isn’t that generosity should be feared or that trust should be abandoned. It’s that independence requires more than favorable circumstances. It requires understanding who holds the power to change them. Five days were enough to establish a routine, but one moment exposed the limits of that routine. The food was still there. The benefits hadn’t disappeared. Only the freedom to leave had been taken away. And perhaps the most important question isn’t whether you’re comfortable with what someone offers you, but whether your life would still belong to you if they stopped offering it.

It was at this moment I became a @JalenHurts fan forever. At 19 years old he was asked one of the most difficult questions of his career - all I could hear is “after going 11-1, how did it feel to get pulled at the second half and watch someone else steal your glory” and his answer was beautiful. Ultimate team guy. Need more people like this in the world.

“The crown is heavy, but it’s never tilted.” 👑 Dawn Staley narrates the Las Vegas Aces’ video celebrating A’ja Wilson’s fifth MVP 🏆

Steve Kerr says Michael Jordan was the most emotionally dominant athlete he’s ever seen, and says everyone (other team, officials, his teammates, fans, etc...) knew he was going to win because of it “Yeah, I mean he was um the most emotionally dominant athlete I’ve ever seen in my life and it’s not close and um obviously the physical skills were incredible. um he’s the greatest player of all time, but there was an emotional um dominance that was hard to quantify, but when you were on his team, you knew you were going to win. Um... The other team knew he was going to win, the officials knew he was going to win, and the fans knew he was going to win.” “And but as a teammate, that was not easy because he drove uh drove us at such a high standard every single day. And um frankly, I had teammates who um I enjoyed a lot more. Tim Duncan, you know, was um very different leader. Tim was much more like Steph Curry, very compassionate, empathetic, um collaborative. Michael just drove us. He drove us and he was effective, but it was a very different form of leadership.” “And um you know playing with him changed my whole career and I I owe him you know my whole career really. Uh... but it was not easy.”

Steph Curry on what advice he would have for rookie Steph Curry today: “Just be a kid and remain.. keep the joy of the game. And sometimes that’s challenged more years than or certain years more than others. But the reason I’m able to still do this is because I love playing basketball. Like I just finished a second training camp practice of year 18. You get your skill work in, but that hour and a half that I’m out here on the floor, I still have so much fun doing what I get to do. So, I would tell my younger self to maintain the integrity of the game and the joy of the game because that’ll carry you through all the ups and downs and the craziness of the NBA.” (via @abc7newsbayarea youtu.be/eKXSLUNT5AM)

Jordan Poole was asked about Steph Curry signing his contract extension at his Pelicans Media Day presser: “Steph’s one of the greatest players to play in our league, and he’s one of the, if not, the greatest shooter. You know, work ethic, the situation that he’s kind of been able to grow in, learn in, be groomed in, stay over there in Golden State for I think it’s, I don’t know, 15-16 years or however long he’s been playing. He has a sense of familiarity with the guys, and he’s just a hardworker, and I think his game speaks for itself. And it helps that he’s been able to be a little bit comfortable, play the game and get comfortable with the system and the guys around him in the front office. Obviously, they have a lot of different teammates and changes as you try to make championship level runs, but you know, he is a big part of that Warriors organization, rightfully so. And credit to him. That’s the big homie, so I’ll reach out if I need anything, and we have conversations and stuff and chop it up over the season and course of the summer. But you know, tremendous guy, hadworker, tremendous athlete and one of the best to play our game.”

The whole Ravens roster hitting the Ronaldo celly after a game winning field goal in Brazil is one of the coolest things I’ve seen in sports lately… The whole crowd went “SIUUU” that was f*ckin cold ❄️

I wish more adults showed kids how to tie their passions to a more stable career. Can’t make it to the NBA? Why not go into sports law, sports medicine, or sports/entertainment consulting?

I’m telling my kids these were the Avengers

Jalen: "Questions?" OG: "Remember in Game 4 when you took that shot in the end and you missed it?" Jalen: "Yeah" OG: "Remember what happened after?" Jalen: "Yeah. You tipped it in" OG: "Oh yeah. That was awesome"

What a time to be alive.

Remember when Jacoby Jones took it coast to coast? 🚀

First, I stopped responding to people I don’t respect. Then, I stopped trying to explain myself to people who benefit from misunderstanding me. Finally, I stopped giving my attention to people I wouldn’t choose to sit across from at dinner. Once you remove the noise, there really isn’t much left to respond to… because the people who matter aren’t the ones doing goofy shii.
