The pains of getting clearer on yourself is seeing how many layers of accumulated assumptions are supporting each and every thought (specifically judgement) you make on reality. Really uncomfortable, you’ll feel helpless in front of the magnitude of your delusion

To the unawakened mind Reality can look grim, despairingly impotent. But to the awakened mind reality is an incomparable hellhole of insoluble stupidity the likes of which should never have come to be but it’s completely fine and enjoyable

When I attempt fetters 4&5 with sincere effort my mind pretty quickly decides “Oh, I’m actually just interested in Fetter 8, it all comes down to the fundamental delusion anyway, doesn’t it?” LOL! How suspiciously convenient that is!
