Had a busy but exciting weekend, and I would not have had it any other way. Saturday 2 grandsons graduated college, one with a law degree from UMKC and one with a Computer Engineering degree from Iowa State University. Sunday a third grandson graduated from Central High School.

Again, USPS shows its apptitude for inefficincy. A package I am waiting for has arrived, left and returned the same USPS sorting faciltiy 3 times in 36 hours.

I did a short road trip and activated 3 parks Monday, while we still had beautiful weather. Just over 300 QSO's total. Trying to get the logs corrected is more taxing than the driving and operating. If nothing else, it will remind me to be more careful when logging from here on.

It appears I exceeded my goal of 20 QSO's a day this year. Just over 10,000 QSO's in my log during 2024. About 65% were with POTA stations.

I have said this several times over the years, SWR is not a very good indicator of antenna performance. Yes, the transmitter needs to see a good match to deliver maximum power to the load but the antenna needs to radiate power in useful directions as well.

I am seeing a disturbing trend on social media about impedance. Many self proclaimed experts seem to concentrate on R values and dismiss reactance values. R values are just a part of the impedance, hence it is called impedance instead of resistance.

SFI numbers are through the roof and A and K are low. Very strong CW stations heard on POTA this AM, maybe due to the high SFI? Not hearing much DX though. This evening ought to be interesting.

Looks like we have an incoming #solarstorm hitting Earth now! The slow speed hints that this may not be the main storm, but rather the glancing blow ahead of the main storm. Right now, the magnetic field points northward so #aurora is remaining at high latitudes for the moment.
